Craps
WIN LINE BETS
Win Line (1) bets can be made only before the first roll of the dice, the Come Out roll. You win on a Natural ie. 7 or 11 and lose on Craps ie. 2, 3,or 12. Any other number becomes the Point and the shooter must throw the Point again before a 7 to win. If a 7 rolls before the Point you lose. If the Point is rolled first then you win even money. After the Point is established, the shooter continues to roll the dice until a 7 is rolled. A Win Line bet cannot be reduced, increased or removed after the Point is established
DON’T WIN LINE BETS
Don’t Win Line (2) bets are the reverse of Win Line bets. They must be made before the Come Out roll. You lose on a Natural ie. 7 or 11 on a Come Out roll, and win on Craps 3 or 12. Should a 2 come up, it is a stand-off (nobody wins). Any other number rolled becomes the Point. You win if the shooter throws a 7 before rolling the Point and you lose if the Point is rolled before a 7. Don’t Win Line bets may be reduced or removed at any time, however, the bet may not be increased or replaced after such removal or reduction until a new Come Out roll.
COME BETS
Come (3) bets are very similar to Win Line bets, however they can only be made after the shooter has established the Point. On the roll immediately following placement of the bet, you win on 7 or 11 and lose on Craps 2, 3 or 12. Any other number that rolls establishes your Come Point, which must be rolled again before a 7 in order to win. If a 7 rolls before the Come Point, you lose. A Come bet cannot be reduced or removed after the Come Point is established with respect to that bet.
Come bets are always active until they either win or lose.
DON’T COME BETS
Don’t Come (4) bets are similar to Don’t Win Line bets, however they can only be made after the shooter has established a Point. On a roll immediately following placement of the bet, you lose on 7 or 11 and win on Craps 12 or 3, with Craps 2 being a stand-off. Any other number that rolls establishes your Don’t Come Point. You win if a 7 is rolled before the Don’t Come Point and you lose if the Point is rolled before a 7. Don’t Come bets may be removed or reduced at any time, but may not be increased or replaced after such removal or reduction until a new Come Out roll.
Don’t Come bets are always active until they either win, lose or are withdrawn.
SUPPLEMENTAL BETS (ODDS)
You can make a bet in addition to your original Win/Don’t Win, Come/Don’t Come bets at any time after a Point is established. These bets are known as ‘Odds’ and may be taken with any Win Line bet or Come bet in an amount up to double the amount of your original bet. You may also lay odds on any Don’t Win or Don’t Come bet to win up to double your original bet. The bet will be in units determined by the odds for that Point.
Odds on Come bets are ‘off’ (not working) ie. They cannot win or lose on the Come Out roll unless you designate that the bet is ‘on’ (working).
FIELD BETS
A Field (5) bet is a one-roll bet and can be made on any roll when the dice are in the centre of the table. A Field bet wins if the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 are rolled on the very next roll. All winning bets pay even money on numbers 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 and 2 to 1 on the numbers 2 and 12. If any other number is rolled, the bet loses.
PLACE BETS - TO WIN
Place Bets to Win (6), can be made on any of the Point numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. A Place bet wins if the number you bet on is rolled and loses if a 7 is rolled. Place bets may be increased, decreased or removed at any time before the next roll of the dice. On the Come Out roll, place bets are ‘off’ unless you designate that the bet is ‘on’ (working).
PLACE BETS – TO LOSE
Place Bets to Lose (7), is the opposite of Place Bets to Win and can be made on any of the Point numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. A Place Bet to Lose will win if the 7 is rolled before the Point number you bet on. Place Bets to Lose may be increased, decreased or removed at any time before the next roll of the dice.
PROPOSITION BETS
Proposition (8) bets are one-roll bets that can be bet on any roll of the dice. You win if your number is rolled. You lose if any other number is rolled. Winning bets placed on Any Craps ie. 2, 3 and 12 pay 7 ½ to 1.
Winning bets placed on 2 or 12 individually pay 33 to 1. Winning bets on 3 or 11 individually pay 16 to 1 and winning bets on Any 7 pay 4 to 1. With Proposition bets (also known as Crap bets), if you have any winning and losing bet/s in the same roll, when the payout is calculated, the dealer will replace your losing bets for the next roll unless you say otherwise.
HORN BETS
A Horn (9) bet is a one-roll combination bet that consists of the four numbers 2, 3, 11 and 12. You win if any of these numbers are rolled. If any other number is rolled, you lose. Horn bets are accepted in even dollar units divisible by four with equal amounts bet on each of the four numbers. The odds are paid accordingly as if the numbers were bet individually.
HORN HIGH BETS
A Horn High (10) bet is a one-roll bet that consists of the same numbers as the Horn bet ie. 2, 3, 11 and 12. The difference between the Horn bet and the Horn High bet is that the Horn High bet is made in dollar units divisible by five instead of four. The player nominates which number they want the extra unit on. The Horn High bet has equal units on three of the numbers with double the amount on the nominated fourth number. Any of the numbers can be called the High. For example ‘Horn High 12.’ You will win if any of the four numbers are rolled on the next roll and lose if any other number is rolled.
HARDWAYS
Hardways (11) are defined as even Point numbers. The numbers that can be a Point that are rolled with a double. As an example, Hardway 8 is two 4’s on the dice; Hardway 6 is two 3’s, etc. A Hardway 4 would win, if the total of the dice add up to four but they must be 2 and 2. It would lose if the dice showed 3 and 1 or any combination of the total 7. Hardway bets can be made on any one individually or as many of them as you like. The bet can be made at any time, however, all Hardway bets are ‘off’ on the Come Out roll unless you ask for them ‘on.’
BUY BETS
Buy (6) bets are the same as Place Bets to Win with one exception; a 5% commission is charged on the amount you bet to receive true odds. The commission is collected when the bet is made. Any Buy bet that has been removed will have the commission refunded. If a Buy bet wins and is left up, the commission must be collected again. Buy bets are indicated with a ‘Buy’ marker button placed on them by the dealer.
LAY BETS
Lay (7) bets are the same as Place Bets to Lose with one exception; a 5% commission is charged on the amount you win to receive true odds. The commission is collected when the bet is made. Any Lay bet that has been removed will have the commission refunded. If a Lay bet wins and is left up, the commission must be collected again. Lay bets are indicated with a ‘Lay’ marker button placed on them by the dealer.

Craps
Craps can be an intimidating game for the beginner. The table seems to have about a hundred different kinds of bets. Critical to the understanding of Craps is that it is a game of rounds. The first roll in a round is called the Come out roll. Sometimes the outcome of a round will be determined on the Come out roll.
In particular a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 on the Come out roll immediately ends a round. If any other total is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) that number is called the Point. A white puck is placed on an area of the table to designate what the Point is, in case you forget. If a Point is rolled the dice will be rolled continuously until the same Point is rolled again or a 7.

CRAPS BETS |
The Pass Line:
The Pass Line is the most fundamental bet in Craps, almost every Player at the table bets on it.
The Pass Line is an even money bet. You start by placing your bet on the Pass Line area on the table on a Come out roll. If the Come out roll is a 7 or 11 you win, which is also called a “natural”. If the Come out roll is a 2, 3, or 12 (Craps) you lose. If any Point is rolled on the Come out roll if the Point is rolled again before a 7 you win. If a 7 comes before the Point you lose. That is all there is to it. Once you understand the Pass Line bet you are ready to play Craps. You may want to practice using fun money a few times before playing for real money.
Buying the Odds:
Once a Point has been thrown you may bet up to 2 times your Pass Line bet on the ‘odds.’ The odds are simply an additional wager that the Point will be rolled before a 7. Because the probability of the Point being rolled first is less than 50% you win more than you bet if it happens. Specifically if the Point is a 6 or 8 the odds pay 6:5, if the Point is a 5 or 9 the odds pay 3:2, and if the Point is a 4 or 10 the odds pay 2:1.
Point Odds Bet Win Total Winnings
|
4 or 10 2:1 $10 $20 $30 |
|
5 or 9 3:2 $10 $15 $25 |
|
6 or 8 5:6 $10 $12 $22 |
Don’t Pass:
The Don’t Pass is almost the opposite of the Pass Line bet. If the Come out roll is a 2 or 3 then you win, a 7 or 11 you lose. A 12 is a push. Otherwise the dice are rolled over and over until either the Point or a 7 is rolled. If the 7 comes before the Point you win.
A person betting on the Don’t Pass is not the wager of choice by many Players, since this bet is betting against the shooter. This is also called a “wrong” bettor and is usually winning when everyone else is losing, and vice versa.
Laying the Odds:
This is the opposite of buying odds, in other words betting that a 7 will be rolled before the Point.
|
If the Point is a 4 or 10 the don’t odds pay 1:2. |
|
If the Point is a 5 or 9 the don’t odds pay 2:3. |
|
If the Point is a 6 or 8 the don’t odds pay 5:6. |
Come Line:
The Come bet is like the Pass Line bet but may be made at any time. Like the Pass Line bet you might also put money on the odds if a Point is thrown on the first roll after the Come bet is placed.
There is a nuance to the Come bet the Player should know about. If a Point is thrown and there are still active Come bets on the table waiting for a different Point then special rules apply for the following Come out roll.
The Come out roll will still apply to active Come bets but it will not apply to their respective odds bets.
In the event a Come bet is resolved on a Come out roll then the odds bet will be returned, while the original Come bet will be lost.
This bet is one of the more exciting bets to make in Craps. A lot of Players use this bet to get more numbers working for them at the same time, six in all.
Don’t Come:
What the Don’t Pass is to the Pass, the Don’t Come is to the Come. If the shooter rolls a 2 or 3, you win.
A 12 constitutes a tie. You lose on 7 or 11. Any other number is the “Come Point”. You win if a seven is rolled before the Come Point and lose if the Come Point is rolled before a 7 is rolled.
Other Craps Bets:
Place Number Bets: This is very similar to laying odds. You may bet on a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If the number you bet on is rolled before a 7 then you win according to payoff schedule below. These bets work just like the odds except unlike laying odds you don’t need to have a Pass Line bet. Place number bets are ON or WORKING during a come out roll. These bets can be removed at any time.
A Place Bet on 4 or 10 pays 9:5
A Place Bet on 5 or 9 pays 7:5
A Place Bet on 6 or 8 pays 7:
When a Place Bet wins, you are paid your winnings and your original bet is returned. You may take back an active Place Bet at any time.
Buy Bets:
This is essentially the same as the Place Bet, only with a different payoff. The Player may “buy” any of the Points (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10), which means to bet that the number will be rolled before a 7. When making a buy bet, you must pay a 4% commission and your bet will pay fair odds if it wins. Fair odds are 2:1 on the 4 and 10, 3:2 on the 5 and 9, and 6:5 on the 6 and 8. Another way to look at it is that the buy bet pays 48:25 on the 4 and 10, 36:25 on the 5 and 9, and 144:125 on the 6 and 8. The pay out on all bets will be rounded down to the nearest quarter.
Lay Bets:
The lay bet is the opposite of the buy bet and the same as the Place Bet to lose but with different paybacks.
The lay bets may be placed on the 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. The bet itself is that a 7 will be rolled before the number you choose. Because the 7 is the most likely number to be rolled you will wager more than you can win.
The Player must pay a 4% commission on the possible winnings and the fair odds are paid on the bet itself.
Fair odds are 1:2 on the 4 and 10, 2:3 on the 5 and 9, and 5:6 on the 4 and 8. Another way to look at it is that lay bet pays 12:25 on the 4 and 10, 16:25 on the 5 and 9, and 12:15 on the 6 and 8.
Hard Ways:
There are four different hard way bets. For example a hard 4 bet is betting that a pair of twos will be rolled before a 7 or any other way to roll a total of 4. This is called “the hard way” because it is harder to roll two twos than a one and a three. Likewise you can bet on a hard 6, 8, or 10, each of which is a bet that the hard way of rolling the given number will occur before a 7 or any “easy” way.
The casino pays 7:1 on a hard 4 or 10
The casino pays 9:1 on a hard 6 or 8
Big 6: A bet that a 6 will be rolled before a 7. Pays even money.
Big 8: Same as the Big 6 only that an 8 will be rolled before a 7.
Big 6 and 8 are not able to be placed on the Come out roll and are NOT working on the next Come out roll after a Point is rolled.
The Proposition Bets
Proposition bets either win or lose on the next throw. Specific descriptions of the various bets are below.
Craps 2: A bet that a 2 will be thrown on the next roll. Pays 30:1.
Craps 3: A bet that a 3 will be thrown on the next roll. Pays 15:1.
Seven: A bet that a 7 will be thrown on the next roll. Pays 4:1.
Eleven: A bet that an 11 will be thrown on the next roll. Pays 15:1
Craps 12: A bet that a 12 will be thrown on the next roll. Pays 30:1
Any Craps: A bet that the next roll will be a 2, 3, or 12. Pays 7:1
Field Bet: This is a one time bet that the next roll will be a 2,3,4,9,10,11,
or 12. The 3,4,9,10, and 11 pay even money, the 2 and 12 pays 2:1.
Online Craps
Several Internet casinos offer various games to players. Online craps is one such game. Several versions of online crap are bank craps, private craps money craps or New York craps. Players can play alone against the house or play against other players. They can play with dummy money or real cash. One must be familiar with the rules of the game before playing with real money. Most sites have a section where one can learn the rules of the game.
Some casinos even offer free downloads of online craps. One can practice the game and learn all betting methods before playing with professionals. The casino must have good software with realistic graphics. This gives one the feel of a real offline casino and increases excitement of the game. The game should have all the necessary elements as betting limits, bonuses on registration and the regular betting areas used commonly in offline casinos.
One must remember to find out if the online casino is legal. Else, one may not get one`s money even on winning. This is because several US states ban online gambling. One must ensure that the site has a credited financial gateway for all transactions. This is necessary since one pays some amount of money for registration and one must be sure of getting one`s prizes in case one wins.
Most online casinos use licensed software from companies like Micro gaming for gaming. They are usually unbiased since they use a computer to draw the numbers for the game. One must not adopt unfair means at these casinos since all of them have anti-collusion software. They track all moves of every player and a player caught cheating is blacklisted form all casinos. Hence, one should play fair and smart to win at online craps.
One must be familiar with the betting rules of online crap before beginning play. One has to place two bets. One must roll the dice after the first bet. Once the line is set, one should wager behind the line. One can stick to this safe betting. If one wants to take more risks, one increases the chances of winning with appearance of any number. This second bet is the field bet.
In a private game of online craps, a player paces a bet and other players challenge him. This player has to roll the dice and wait for the outcome. Depending on the number that appears the player will win or lose his bet. In a bank version of online craps the player is playing against the casino. However, in this variation the player has greater chances of winning.
There are four to six players on a table and four other people, which regulate the game. The box man controls the flow of the game, the two dealers pay the winners and the stickman who regulates the pace of the game and directs the dice to the players in turn.
After the initial round of betting, the player rolls the dice. If he gets a seven or eleven, he wins his bet. If he gets a two, three or twelve he is beaten. However, one must continue to roll the dice until one gets any of the other numbers other than the three mentioned above, or a seven.
The rules for betting may differ a little in different online casinos, but the basic rules for online craps are the same. One must learn the different techniques of the game and develop one`s own betting strategy to maximize one`s gains in the game.
Play Craps
Craps is the most popular form of dice gambling game in the world. With all the different types of bets it can become quite complicated, but here are some of the more basic rules to get you started.
The game is played by rolling two dice on a table, and betting on the outcome of the dice throw. You can either bet with the dice thrower (often called the ?shooter?) or against him. The basic form of betting is to bet on the ?Pass line? before the dice are thrown. If you bet this way you are betting with the thrower. The thrower then rolls the dice. If he rolls a seven or and eleven, you win your bet and the shooter can throw again. If he rolls a two, three or twelve, you lose the bet, but the same player can still roll the dice again. If any other number is thrown, this is called a ?point?. The shooter then rolls again, and if he throw the same number as his point, you win your bet, but now if he rolls a seven, you lose the bet and someone else gets a turn to throw.
The other way to bet is against the thrower. This called a “Don`t Pass” bet. You place your bet on the Don`t Pass line before the shooter rolls the dice. Now you win or lose in exactly the opposite way as explained above. The shooter still needs to make his point, but this time if he makes his point you lose, and if he rolls a seven you win. There is one additional betting rule that applies to a Don`t Pass bet, and that is that if the thrower rolls a 12, you do not win or lose your bet.
